President’s Message – February 2018

We are already into February how fast time flies.  The Nanaimo Blues Society celebrated it’s 4th anniversary of the Sunday Blues Jam at the Queens.  The stage was honored with some of the best musicians on central Vancouver Island.  They delivered solid sets and had the folks dancing until closing time. Cake was served to all and we had one of the biggest 50/50 draws ever.  Now we begin the journey into year 5.  From very humble beginnings to standing room only.  Thank you to all the musicians who come out and support the Blues Jam and thanks also to our fan base who are always strutting their stuff.  A special thank you has to go out to the Staff at the Queens.  They hustle their buns off to deliver food and libation in quick fashion.  A big thank you also to the New Chef at the Queens.  His menu is excellent, the food is well cooked and the portions ample.  If you haven’t tried out the new menu, take a gander, order a plate and enjoy the scrumptious food.

I would like to welcome our newest board member, Summer Hay.  She has a great background in music, has volunteered for the Summertime Blues many times in the past.  Great enthusiasm and we do appreciate her joining our board.

Mark your calendars and join us on March 24th at Beban Auditorium. As previously mentioned we are having a “Fund Raiser” for the Nanaimo Blues Society.  This will give you an opportunity to support the NBS in delivering another fantastic Summertime Blues.  Silent auction, great music and adult libation will make for a stellar evening.  Tickets are now available.

Don’t forget to renew your membership and if you are currently not a member, please consider joining our society.
